Offering a rose, taking off the thorns by Kanan Roberts

I had a similar experience when Guru once came to Miami. He requested for a rose to give to the professor who had invited him to the University. I handed the rose to him. Quite green, I did not know that I should take out the thorns when handing him a rose for a guest. Standing before him, for what seemed like eternity, I watched transfixed as his fingers broke off each thorn, even at the risk of hurting himself. That sacred moment will always stay in my memory -- reminding me of the thorns that he plucked out of our lives.
