I have a few heros I look up to. Ashrita Furman and Sanjaya Spettigue are two of them. Ashrita with his videographer companion are coming to Italy and Germany for a few days, to attempt to transcend three world records, two in Rome and one in Munich.

Sri Chinmoy - Like a Father

In US, Father's day is celebrated in June, in Europe it falls on the 19 of March; Europeans are lucky to be able to celebrate it twice.

Lexicon: The whole kit and kaboodle

My dear friend Bishwas taught me once a very good locution: The whole kit and kaboodle.

I wanted to use it today, but forgot how to spell it. So here is a short page with its etymology, just in case you need to use it as well. It is a very nice idiom!

John Keats, poet-seer lover of beauty

Today, 23 February, is John Keats' passing anniversary. He was snatched away at the young age of 26 (he would have been 27 on 31 October 1821).

I have to thank Sri Chinmoy for knowing Keats. Because of Guru's work Philosopher-Thinkers: The Power-Towers Of The Mind And Poet-Seers: The Fragrance-Hours Of The Heart In The West I became quite sensitive to Keats poetry.

One day I will write about how that book touched and changed my life. For now, here is a section from the volume related to Keats:

"Fine espresso that paints the tongue"

Striving for the best coffee in the world

Kanan pointed out this article about Ernesto Illy, chairman of Illycaffè and maker of one of the best commercial brand of coffee in the world. He was renowned as a scientific perfectionist of coffee and especially as an evangelist of espresso.

Even if I do not drink coffee much anymore (if you follow any spiritual path, coffee is quite bad for you ) I admire Mr. Illy's acute sense of perfection and striving for excellence in his art.

United with the Universal Consciousness

Defending champions France and their new coach, Marc Lièvremont, go in search of their first hat-trick with three back-to-back victories, but England will hope to be strong contenders after their exploits at the World Cup.

Ireland, last year’s Triple Crown winners, will want to forget their World Cup form and prove to their fans that they can perform under pressure.

Inspiration-pearls: "Home" - a poem by Michael

This poem is one of the most beautiful I read. It's dolefulness and yearning sparkle with Guru's light all over. This is what it means, to me at least, to be a hero on the battlefield that is our life.

Thank-you, Michael.
