A song immortal by Sri Chinmoy

Sri Chinmoy has composed literally thousands of songs. Each one of us has his favourites, and Jago Amar Swapan Sathi is one of my absolute favourites.

As somebody very close to the song said, Jago Amar Swapan Sathi is an immortal song... a diamond.

The song appears in a few theatrical plays, and Sri Chinmoy wrote about it in his book Eternity's Breath:

I wrote the following song in India about fifteen years ago. It calls upon the soul to awaken and lead the entire being towards God-Realisation.

Translation

Arise, awake, O friend of my dream.
Arise, awake, O breath of my life.
Arise, awake, O light of my eyes.
O seer-poet in me,
Do manifest yourself in me and through me.
Arise, awake, O vast heart within me.
Arise, awake, O consciousness of mine,
Which is always transcending the universe
and its own life of the Beyond.
Arise, awake, O form of my meditation transcendental.
Arise, awake, O bound divinity in humanity.
Arise, awake, O my heart's Liberator, Shiva,
And free mankind from its ignorance-sleep.

I also adore this song.

I also adore this song. For a period of time, I sang it regularly during my meditations at home in the early morning. I also used to sing it silently to myself when I was postering for meditation classes. I felt that somehow this song gives birth to inner yearning which was previously dormant inside one's heart. Seeing it here is inspiring me to pay attention to it once again.
