Stille Nacht (Silent Night) by Dresden Kreuzchor (Conducted by Manfred Jung)

3:34 minutes (3.85 MB)

Silent Night was composed and first performed in 1818 by the teacher Franz Xaver Gruber in the small Austrian community of Oberndorf, not far from Salzburg. The lyrics were written in 1816 by the priest Joseph Mohr.

Since the organ of Oberdorf were broken, the two were looking for a musical alternative - and "invented" Silent Night. The song was later transmitted by Tyronlian singers and is now considered to be the World's most popular Christmas carol.

Silent Night has been translated into more then 300 different languages and dialects and exists in variations all over the world.

Flute Concerto in G minor 'La Notte', VI. Allegro by Vivaldi

2:02 minutes (2.96 MB)

I started to like classical music only after joining the Path and attending the charming Classical Concerts during Celebrations.

I will try to post here some works that inspire me. This piece is from Flute Concerto in G minor 'La Notte, composed by the Italian Antonio Vivaldi in 1731.

Toccata in D minor by Bach

2:47 minutes (4.31 MB)

Following up Vivaldi's Allegro (Flute Concerto in G minor 'La Notte'), here is another musical masterpiece that has been inspiring me very much. It is the Toccata in D minor by Bach, composed in 1709.

This piece always reminds me of Guru's organ concerts. With utmost respect to Bach, I hope to be forgiven if I say I appreciate, love and adore Guru's own performances by far, very far.
